Buffalo, NY-The Graphic Arts Information Network (GAIN) has announced that local web offset printer NEWSPRESS has won first place in the 2006 competition in the Heatset Newsprint Category. The winning entry was Prospectus `05, an annual supplement to The Buffalo News.

The Web Offset Association (WOA) is a subdivision of GAIN that recognizes excellence in web offset printing with this annual competition. 2006 marks the 53rd annual competition which draws entrants from web offset printers throughout the United States and Canada. Entries are subjected to judging against 4 criteria: registration (how accurately the different colors of ink are positioned), degree of difficulty, folding, binding or other finishing (if applicable), and overall craftsmanship of the product.
