Buffalo Newspress Captures Top National Award Buffalo, NY-The Graphic Arts Information Network (GAIN) has announced that local web offset printer NewPress has won first place in the 2006 competition in the Heatset Newsprint Category. The winning entry for NewsPress was Prospectus `05, an annual supplement to The Buffalo News. The Web Offset Association (WOA) is a subdivision of GAIN that recognizes excellence in web offset printing with this annual competition. 2006 marks the 53rd annual competition which draws entrants from web offset printers throughout the United States and Canada. Entries are subjected to judging against 4 criteria: registration (how accurately the different colors of ink are positioned), degree of difficulty, folding, binding or other finishing (if applicable), and overall craftsmanship of the product. NewsPress Chairman Michael Kibler said, "To win this award is an enormous honor, because it means we were judged to be the best of the best in the nation. It acknowledges not only our employees` level of professional skill, but our whole philosophy when it comes to customer satisfaction."
